Cheddar Garlic Grits Souffle’

Ingredients
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup uncooked grits
- 4 cups milk
- 1 T fresh garlic chopped fine
- 1 t seasoned salt
- 1/2 t cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 eggs separated

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375f.
- Spray ramekins or oven safe bowls with pan spray.
- Cook grits in the milk with the seasoned salt and the garlic until done, about 20 minutes.
- Add the cayenne, butter, cheese and egg yolks to the grits.
- Stir well and let cool.
- Whip the egg whites until stiff and gently fold into the grits mixture. Using a rubber spatula, scrape the grits mixture into the sprayed bowls or ramekins leaving them half full.
- Bake until soufflé puffs up to double, about 25 minutes.
Recipe Notes
You can also add fresh herbs for added flavor and cuteness! I like to add fresh thyme, scallions or flat leaf parsley to my cheddar grits when I'm feeling extra haughty! Lol
